Weekly Encouragement
James 4:7-8, 10 – “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee fro you. Come near to God and he will come near to you…Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.”
Submission has always been a tender subject in American culture. Whether it is in the family or the workplace, submission isn’t something any of us do easily because we think it makes us weak or less. However, Christ reminds us of the importance to submit ourselves to God – to say that he is the Creator and we are the created, that he is God and we are not. Then, unlike what we think, instead of becoming less, when we submit to God, we become more. He lifts us up, he makes us whole, and he empowers us to live in faith.
Who might be someone that God has been nudging you to talk to about church? What area of your life do you still have a grip on that you need to release to God? Pray this week that God will reveal his will for your life; ask him to show you what he has planned for you and for the strength to follow.
