Weekly Infusion of Encouragement
Acts 2:38-39 – “Peter replied, ‘Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off – for all whom the Lord our God will call.”
In many ways, the one thing standing in our way of progress is ourselves. All of us are prideful and selfish people. There are some that even consider pride to be the root of all sin; that any other sin we might commit stems from the pride in our hearts. With Christ and the grace he gives, however, we have a chance of humbling ourselves, repenting of our sins, and coming into a new relationship with him. With grace, Christ gives us the power to overcome our pride and seek him first instead of ourselves. The best part of this relationship is that we are gifted the presence of the Holy Spirit and his power and it is his power that leads us to loving God and loving others.
Where are some areas that pride or selfishness is keeping you from experience the full extent of God has planned for you? In what ways could you rely on the Holy Spirit to lead you this week? Pray and ask for forgiveness; pray and ask for God to fill you with his presence and the Holy Spirit.
